Ah, back again for my second introductory post. This time I'm going to specifically talk about my favorite band, 311. I first started listening to 311 freshman year of highschool. I had just started playing guitar and I really enjoyed playing their music. I've been listening to them ever since. So far I have been to 4 of their concerts, including the show they had here, at the Bob and most recently, this summer. They put on one of the most amazing live shows I've ever seen. Their sound is perfect and is exactly the same as the album. I encourage everyone to try to see them at least once.As far as their music goes, you may be familiar with such songs as, Amber, Down, Transistor, Love Song, and most recently, Don't Tread On Me. Their style of music has a touch of reggae, rock and rap all mixed into one. The band originates from Omaha, Nebraska and started over 10 years ago. Nick Hexum is the lead singer, accompanied my S.A. Martinez who sings most of the rap and spins beats on the turntables. Peanut rocks out on the bass guitar and has the incredible ability to play amazingly fast. Tim Mahoney play lead guitar and really makes the band's sound with his reggae riffs. Chad Sexton plays drums and is absolutely incredible at them. His drum solos at concerts are rediculous.
Overall the band is jsut amazing. They have to be considering they have been coming out with hit songs for over 10 years. I'd like to leave you with a few of my favorite songs that you can download. Enjoy.

Do You Right

Guest starring on Veronica Mars: Joss Whedon?
I may have made mention at one point in my Spoilers Anonymous column about Kevin Smith making an appearance in an episode of Veronica Mars next season.
Hey, you have a great blog here! I'm definitely going to bookmark you!
I have a ##online work## site/blog. It pretty much covers ideas on how to make money online, plus other related stuff.
Come and check it out if you get time :-)
I agree 311 is not my favorite band but to do have a good sound. I also went to the concert at the bob last year or when ever it was. I enjoyed it. Some times I get the a little bit confused to the band Sublime. I know they are different but I get mixed up sometimes. I would recommend going to see them if you can. I am sure that they will come back the Baltimore DC Philly area some time soon. Or at leas I would hope so. It’s so hard to find good music these days with week bands like AFI and greenday running around destroying music.
I remember when 311 got really popular with their song "Down." At the time I thought they were a fairly new band, but I knew a kid that had been listening to the guys for a few years. I think their sound has evolved over the years. I am big fan of their recent stuff because a lot of the songs are more mellow. My favorites are Amber and the cover of Love Song that was originally done by The Cure. I also have a crush on Nick Hexum the lead singer! I am looking forward to seeing what other bands you like listening to.
I like the From Chaos cd, but its the only 311 cd I have. My roommate is a big 311 fan, so I hear the music all the time. I enjoy their more mellow songs like Amber, and Champagne. I wanted to go to their concert last year at the Bob but I couldn't make it, do they have any concerts coming up soon? I don't know that much about 311 but I love music, so I'm interested to see what other bands you like. I'm always looking for new things to listen to and I like how you leave a list of good songs to download.
i thought your blog was cool and i think you may like this cool Website. now just Click Here
I agree with Patrick when he says that 311 remind him of Sublime. I never get them confused because I am a hard core Sublime fan. However, I have heard a lot of people say that they sound like them. 311 also have a wide array of sound. Their earlier stuff from an album called “music” is definitely hard and fast. I don’t think they really got that reggae rock sound until “Transistor”. A lot of people don’t like that reggae rock sound, but I absolutely love it. Of course this is probably not one of my favorite bands, but I do respect them and own quite a bit of their albums.
